The position offers an opportunity to join the UK's foremost restructuring tax team, contributing to a variety of high-profile transactions and impactful projects.
The Restructuring Services Tax team specializes in offering tax guidance to businesses facing financial challenges.
Over the past few years, the team has established a strong reputation, managing some of the most significant and intricate restructuring processes in the UK. These include major insolvency cases such as company administrations, liquidations, receiverships, as well as debt-for-equity swaps, schemes of arrangement, and mergers & acquisitions.
The team's distinguishing features are the diverse range of work it undertakes and its supportive, collaborative culture. Balancing both UK-based and international transactions, the team is currently seeking a VAT specialist at the Assistant Manager or Manager level to expand its capabilities and seize new opportunities within the restructuring sector. This role encompasses advisory duties as well as compliance across various industries.

Key Responsibilities
Key areas of focus for the role include:
* Providing VAT advice to insolvency practitioners (administrators/liquidators) regarding the implications of their actions during insolvency proceedings.
* Offering guidance to companies, lenders, and stakeholders on VAT considerations related to complex restructuring processes, including swift disposal of shares, properties, and businesses.
* Engaging with HMRC to address diverse technical and compliance questions linked to insolvency cases.
* Handling day-to-day VAT inquiries from internal restructuring teams.
* Producing VAT reports and deliverables while ensuring compliance with tax authorities through proper submission of returns or documentation.
* Supporting business development efforts by fostering strong relationships both internally and externally.
* Enhancing the technical knowledge of the broader restructuring business through training program design and delivery.
* Collaborating with restructuring and tax teams to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.
* Developing indirect tax thought pieces with contributions from the wider tax team.
Required Skills & Experience
The role requires the following qualifications and skills:
* CTA or equivalent certification (preferred).
* Extensive expertise and knowledge in UK VAT.
* Outstanding communication, teamwork, and project management abilities.
* A strong ability to perform under pressure.
* While experience in transactions or insolvency processes is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
