Tax Partner, Scarborough, York or Leeds
£Excellent (£80,000 to £125,000 + bens)
Our client is an independent firm with offices in York, Scarborough and Leeds. For the next stage of their development they seek to hire a Tax Partner. They are looking for a talented and experienced Tax Professional to lead and develop a thriving tax department within a modern and progressive firm of business advisors and accountants. In this role you will manage a team of tax compliance specialists and also be involved in some advisory work. You will need experience of personal taxes and ideally you will have a mixed tax background enabling you to advise both entrepreneurs and their businesses.

As a Tax Partner, you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic tax practices of the firm. Your role will encompass identifying complex tax planning and compliance projects, mentoring a team of dedicated tax professionals, and enhancing client relationships through exceptional advisory services. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses a keen insight into optimising business tax strategies for a varied clientele. Day to day this will include:
• Leading and managing the tax compliance department, supporting with budget creation and overall responsibility for team KPI’s.
• Creation of appropriate processes, procedures and practices for the business, with responsibility for implementing / integrating those into existing offices and future mergers and acquisitions.
• Provision of expert advice and fostering relationships with clients to understand their business goals, identifying tax planning opportunities which address their unique challenges whilst delivering best in class service.
• Staying abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients and internal teams on their implications, as well as ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax filings for clients
• Overseeing and mentoring a team of tax professionals, providing guidance on technical matters and fostering a culture of continuing professional development.
• Collaboration with other departments to integrate tax planning into overall client financial strategies.
• Conducting regular training sessions to keep the team updated on the latest tax laws and compliance procedures.
• Representing the firm in dealings with tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
• Maintaining a high standard of ethical conduct and ensure the team adheres to professional standards.
• Managing a mixed portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients, ensuring all compliance and advisory services are delivered to a high standard
• Review of work prepared by junior staff.
The ideal candidate will have a mixed tax background and will be happy to travel between offices as needed. Its likely you will be CTA qualified (though ACA and ICAS also considered). Experience of running compliance teams would be an advantage. This firm offers hybrid working.
