Hays are delighted to partner with this public sector organisation, based in Birmingham, who are looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team on a 12 month fixed-term basis.

Your new role
As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of financial systems, ensuring frameworks and processes are in line with governance requirements and maintain finance forecasting models.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

* Owning the chart of accounts, providing advice on additions and changes
* Maintain and check the finance system, ensuring the data is coded correctly and resolving any issues of data integration
* Maintain the finance forecasting model-checking and uploading actual and budget data between finance systems
* Working collaboratively across the organisation to assist streamline processes in data and reporting
* Checking and testing data and systems

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the position, you will:

* Be a Qualified or Qualified by Experience Accountant with significant experience in complex financial systems and data governance
* Have extensive experience updating chart of accounts and change management experience
* Have the ability to communicate affectively with both finance and non-finance professionals at a senior level across an organisation
