πŸ“£A bit about the role.

We’re looking for a technically brilliant and commercially astute Tax Manager to join the Finance team here at Butternut Box and establish this new department within the business. Reporting directly into the CFO, it's an exceptionally exciting time to join with scope to fully own Tax & Tax Strategy in a rapidly internationalising, high growth Group.

In this role, you can expect to…

● Establish the department and own Tax within the Group with responsibility for Corporation Tax (including R&D, Capital Allowances & Transfer Pricing), VAT, Employment Taxes, and everything in between.
● Manage the activities and relationships with the Group’s external Tax advisors as required, with an expectation that the current set-up will be continually reviewed, assessed and optimised.
● Build and streamline all Tax-related processes to ensure compliance & scalability, with a suite of trackable KPIs to match.
● Design & maintain appropriate forecasts for upcoming Tax payments.
● Identify and implement opportunities to optimise the Group’s effective Tax rate and to mitigate the Group's Tax risk on a short, medium and longer term basis.
● Design, communicate and execute the Group's longer term Tax strategy in line with our overall objectives (including recommendations for any appropriate amendments to corporate Tax structure).
● Be the go-to expert to input on wider business strategy, M&A and other expansion projects as the Tax voice in the room.
● Partnering with the People team, Head of Legal and wider business to advise on:
- Tax implications of a globally mobile employee group;
- Permanent establishment and corporate residency risks; and
- The potential impact of any upcoming changes to Tax legislation.
- Support with the management of our Employee Share Option Scheme.

🐢A bit about you.

● 2+ years CTA qualified (preferably with CA/ACA but not essential).
● A strong understanding of UK Corporation Tax (inc. Capital Allowances & R&D) and Transfer Pricing (with cross-border Tax experience a plus).
● A moderate knowledge of indirect Tax.
● Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.
● Proven self-starter - given the breadth of the role, we are not expecting you to have all the answers but leaning on your strong foundational knowledge and knowing where to look will be key.
● Technically very strong but commercially aware & solution-orientated: Tax should not be a blocker as the business expands and you are energised by solving potential problems.
● Strong communicator: you can convey complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
● Demonstrable ability to switch between the detail and bigger picture.
● A love for all things dogs!
