Personal Tax / international tax assistant Manager
In-house
Bristol
This is a simply fantastic opportunity to join the brilliant tax compliance team at a law firm in central Bristol.
The team enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the country, with both national and international clients. They advise clients on tax and estate planning, offshore tax planning, corporate tax etc. As an Assistant Tax Manager, you will take responsibility for your work, be trusted to get on with things and will need to manage the responsibility of working on a number of different matters. There will be supervision provided from other parts of the tax compliance team, which conducts itself in a professional, friendly, and supportive way as does the whole of the wider department.
The tax compliance team advises a wide range of clients in a number of specialist tax areas. The team works closely with international tax lawyers and supports the probate, succession planning and Wills teams. It also deals with trust tax returns and compliance.
As an Assistant Tax Manager, you will assist with the delivery of work in the following key growth areas: • IHT returns for predominantly excluded property trusts, which have an increasing exposure to UK taxation. With the right experience, this may include assisting lawyers with the analysis of the structures which can sit beneath such trusts; • the preparation of relevant income and stockpiled gains pools for non-UK trustees which may assist with, say, tax advice in relation to distributions to UK resident beneficiaries; and • the preparation of UK personal tax returns, including for UK resident non-domiciled individuals and non-UK residents. These niche areas of both trust and personal taxation provide for a mixed workload, with the opportunity to work across different parts of the wider department. You may also have the opportunity to work on projects such as the de-enveloping of UK properties. This can include assisting with non-resident capital gains tax and corporation tax compliance as well as ATED and ancillary TRS compliance.
We are looking for someone with Personal Tax experience, possibly international tax and / or trusts. You will be looking to continue developing yourself and your capabilities, with the support of the leadership team.
You should be interested in picking up a variety of different matters, which can include some complex cases, however, you will be very well supported by the breadth of knowledge that exists within the department.
You should ideally have a relevant accountancy qualification (either AAT or ACA/ACCA) as well as having a particular interest in the area of tax. You should also have experience of using tax software packages. The team are committed to finding the right person for this role and are open to discussing flexible working patterns, including the potential for a part time role
